If you are a student considering registering with Unitemps, or if you’ve already signed up and are applying for job opportunities, here’s a good refresher on the preparation students need to take when jump-starting their career.
First impressions are key.
It’s important to first remember that the way you present yourself to the Unitemps staff members is just as important as the way you would present yourself to a possible employer. First impressions are key, so when attending Unitemps on-boarding workshops make sure to seem engaged, interested and enthusiastic! While these are an opportunity for you to get to know the Unitemps staff, it is also their opportunity to get to know you and assess you for future roles.
The close relationship between Unitemps staff members and registered students is very beneficial. You are able to ask any questions you may have and receive direct answers. Take advantage of this! If you have any questions before, after, or during the application process don’t be afraid to ask. The staff is here to make the application process less of a hassle for you.
Specify your resume.
Before sending your resume to Belinda, make sure you know which particular job you are applying for, and specify that when you send your resume along! Having a specific position in mind will help you to tailor your resume to the exact job position you are applying for. This will increase your chances of being hired. If you need help perfecting your resume, pop into Career Ready to meet with a Career Ready staff member. The team are a great resource for students and can help you get your resume in tip-top shape. There are also resources on the Career Ready blog to help you fix up your resume on your own.
