Make a difference in your community and gain professional experience

Service Learning in the Community (HUM2SLC) is a new elective subject for second and third year students offered in Semester 2, 2014.  The subject will enable you to learn about Australia’s Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) and give you the opportunity to get hands-on experience working on a project within a small team for a community organisation.

Enrol in a career planning subject in 2014

Are you interested in learning more about how careers are developed? How you can apply the skills you have developed in work and study to your career? Are you interested in the meaning of work? Do you want to study a subject online?

The Career Development Centre will be teaching two elective subjects in 2014:

  • Work Ready Skills and Planning Your Career (HUM2WRS);
  • Career Management and Contemporary Workplace Issues (HUM3CWI).

Both subjects are taught online and are available to undergraduate students from all faculties, at Bundoora, Bendigo, Albury-Wodonga, Mildura and Shepparton campuses. Continue reading

Masterclass: Applying for graduate employment

Did you know that many of Australia’s largest companies and government departments will be accepting applications in March and April 2014 for graduate jobs commencing in 2015? Companies recruit graduates from a range of disciplines. Most are looking for good grades, some work or volunteering experience, and good generic skills like communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.

To help you prepare, the Career Development Centre will be running our popular MasterClass workshop on Thursday 20 February 2014. It’s a 3-hour workshop that will provide heaps of tips on putting together an application and succeeding at interviews and psychometric testing.
